Our nature

Adam and Eve were sheep and by the way, so are we. They were being led right down the road to destruction. Yes their pride allowed them to act upon the perverted idea that they could be like God with knowledge of good and evil so they are guilty and sheep-like, sheeple. The difference between sheep and sheeple, is that human sheep have the ability to think, so in order to move them in a certain direction, it must make sense to them somehow or they must be tempted.

Enter Satan, he does both with great desire and precision. He is the great deceiver and mastermind, a power hungry control oriented elitist acting as the shepherd, moving the flock this way and that. He needs to deceive and lie to the flock in order to convince them to move ultimately giving him the control he desires, to the extent that we allow him anyway.

But he's not alone because sheeple are sinful in nature because they tend to reject the things of God out of pride and arrogance. I call this the “I think” syndrome where every thought, idea, or perception formed in the mind of man begins with “I think”. You know, people responding to a question of faith with: “well I think this or I think that” as though what they think has some kind of significance. No wonder history repeats itself, people are so prideful that “they think” their results will be different from their predecessors. Sometimes it is mere naiveté rather than purposeful but in either case, if our mind doesn’t begin with “what does God say” about any particular idea then it is in the end a rejection of God at some level. And that’s what gets us in trouble.

Now sometimes we have sheeple who want to become masterminds themselves because they figure out that they can control the masses. They do the same things that Satan himself does and that is to deceive and tempt. Of course all of this is based in lies because it doesn't come from God. They find a way to repackage any issue of the day into something that is acceptable to the masses and off they go. This is where dictators come from both modern day and historically. Then we have the accomplices, you know like the media or thug union bosses or big corporate donors. These people will aid the mastermind and support the agenda because they are promised to be in the inner circle. They get recognition, wealth, power or any combination of these. They build the power structure and become the elitists (crony capitalists).

Read the following passage (Genesis ch. 11) and notice how these people were bent on using bricks instead of rocks and understand that bricks are man made and uniform while rocks are God made with each one unique. Though it may go unnoticed, there is tremendous significance just in that fact. Then notice their fate, that which happens to those masterminds who attempt to create their own "I think" utopia rather than simply looking to God for guidance and provision. And then ask yourself: Are we any different?

Genesis 11
At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words. As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there.
They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.) Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.”
But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building. “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.”
In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city. That is why the city was called Babel, because that is where the Lord confused the people with different languages. In this way he scattered them all over the world.

Finally, understand that Babylon represents the epitome of godlessness and  idolatry. This became the civilization that took the Israelites captive from their own land and forced them to bow down to their false God's. Well, this is what happens to a nation that continues to reject God. He eventually allows their hardened hearts to control their lusts and gives their minds over to depravity.

Romans 1:28-32

28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

If only sheeple would become individuals like they were created to be instead of trying to fit into a societal box of equality. Each with talents as designed by our Creator and in His image. Productively pursuing the passions that He gave us and for His glory instead of ours. If only that were the case then we wouldn't be following false shepherds but rather the Good Shepherd. There would be no need for agendas and masterminds, elitists and liars, control freaks and phonies. Wait a minute, we can, one person at a time can turn to God and ask for forgiveness and turn away from our wicked Godless ways. We can ask Him to reveal Himself in a way that we can understand and accept the gift of forgiveness and eternal life through the sacrificial death of Jesus. By the Holy Spirit we can come to an understanding that sin and death has been beaten by the resurrection. And the good news, the really good news is that you don't have to worry about earning your salvation because Jesus has already won that battle for you. Wow, that's compassion, that's love, that is the gift of gifts. Simply put your "I think" aside and just say yes to Jesus. That is the path, get on it and begin to grow in His ways. You will save your life and probably the lives of others. That, my friend is a legacy.
